Our pharmacist will need to see the person that the emergency contraception is intended for, and will need to ask a few questions regarding the patients’ medical history. This is done in the privacy of our consultation room and everything discussed is in complete confidence. The sooner you come to our pharmacy to take the morning after pill, the greater the chances of avoiding pregnancy.
If the Pharmacist feels like Levonelle One Step is not suitable for you, they will not give you the morning after pill, but advise you to see your health care professional.
We are one of the few pharmacies that are able to provide the morning after pill free of charge to patients who are aged 24 and under, and who meet the NHS criteria. Alternatively, the pill can be purchased privately from our pharmacy.

When it comes to sex, even if you’ve taken precautions, sometimes things don’t quite go to plan. Accidents happen with contraception and things go wrong all the time. You may even just be worried that your contraceptive pill hasn’t worked. If you’ve had unprotected sex or you’re worried about contraception failure, here is some of the information you need to know about Levonelle One Step -
- Levonelle One Step is an emergency contraceptive that can be used within 72 hours (3 days) of unprotected sex or if your contraceptive method has failed.
- There is one white tablet in the pack and it is most effective when taken within the first 12 hours
- The tablet contains a hormone called Levonorgestrel.
- Levonelle One Step is thought to work by stopping your ovaries from releasing an egg or by preventing sperm from fertilising any egg that may have already been released
- If you are over 16 you can get Levonelle One Step over the counter at our Pharmacy
- If you are under 16 you cannot buy Levonelle One Step at the Pharmacy, you need to visit your GP or a Walk-In centre
- Levonelle One Step works to prevent a pregnancy becoming established, it does not work if you are already pregnant
- You should only use Levonelle One Step in emergencies, not as a regular form of contraception

Private Meningitis ACWY Vaccination Service
We are able to vaccinate to protect against multiple strains of meningococcal meningitis for travellers. Individuals should consider being vaccinated if they are travelling to a country where meningococcal meningitis is present and where their stay maybe prolonged or they are involved in activities which may increase the risk of exposure to the disease, for example, working in a healthcare setting and living closely with the local population.
Pilgrims travelling to Saudi Arabia for Hajj are required to have a valid certificate of vaccination against the disease for visa purposes. Certificates will be provided after vaccination at no additional cost.
We are able to vaccinate patients over the age of 16 who are travelling to visit parts of the world where the risk of meningococcal disease is relatively high. We are also able to vaccinate family members and close contacts of confirmed disease cases of meningitis A, C, W135 or Y as identified by NHS Health Protection Team. In adults over 16 years of age, immunity will last for up to 5 years.
Meningococcal meningitis is an acute bacterial disease that can cause systemic infection. There are 13 different serogroups of meningitis of which groups B and C are most common in the UK. Serogroup A and the less common W135 can cause serious epidemics which occur predominantly in the African meningitis belt from Senegal in the west to Ethiopia in the east. These serotypes have also been responsible for outbreaks in Saudi Arabia during the Hajj pilgrimages and in the city of Moscow in Russia in the past.
The disease is transmitted by sneezing, coughing or direct contact with respiratory secretions. The bacteria are found in the nasal passages of healthy individuals. Around 25% of adolescents and 5-11% of adults carry the bacteria.

The pneumococcal vaccine is given to prevent invasive diseases caused by pneumococcal bacteria. These include pneumonia, meningitis and blood poisoning (septicaemia). At their worst, they can cause permanent brain damage, or even kill.
Pneumococcal infections can affect anyone; however some people are more at risk of developing serious diseases like these as a result of getting a pneumococcal infection.
There are two vaccines available: the conjugate vaccine (PCV) and the polysaccharide vaccine (PPV).

* Select Prescriptions from the menu tab in the top left hand corner of our Websites homepage. On the first occasion you will be asked to register
for an account. Once you have done this you will need to go back to the login page and login.
* Once you are logged in you can then select your sergery and add your prescriptions to the account. You also have the option to add other users and their medicines to your account. These are people who you wish to order for, such as your children, and other loved ones. This allows you to order for the entire families in one go! Once you have entered all this information it will be saved for next time.
* Once you have set up your account you will be able to place an order using the ‘Manage and Order Prescriptions’ icon. Then you will simply be able to select ‘Order prescription’ for each patient you wish to order for.
* We will place the order with the surgery on your behalf and you will receive a confirmation from us to show you that your repeat medication is ‘In Progress’. Most Surgeries require two full working days to generate a prescription.
* When your medicines are ready to collect in store you will receive a confirmation saying ‘Ready to collect’.

When you have a sore throat, getting the right advice and treatment can help you get back to normal more quickly.
Most sore throats are caused by viruses but some are bacterial. If your symptoms indicate that your sore throat may be bacterial and you are 12 years older, we can perform a quick, simple test to check for the presence of the bacteria Streptococcus A, the most common cause of bacterial sore throats infections.
If you wish to have the Strep A test a specially-trained pharmacist will examine you for signs of a bacterial infection. This includes checking your throat for white spots and your neck for tenderness around your glands.
If this shows it’s likely to be a bacterial infection, they’ll offer you a throat swab test. Results of the test will be available in 10 minutes.
If the result is positive for Strep A, the pharmacist will be able to supply you appropriate treatment which may include an antibiotic. They will also give you some general advice on how best to manage your symptoms.
If the result is negative for Strep A, your pharmacist will go through treatment options to help relieve your symptoms.
